Windshield wiper problem 1968
Having a problem with my 68 windshield wipers. Car has not been driven in 40 years, however I have restored it with the exception of windshield wipers. I installed a used dash harness and new windshield wiper motor and does not work. Is there any manual that deals with trouble shooting wipers.
Thanks
Chuck

Is the wiper motor cutoff switch located under the steering column in the correct position? This **** should only move a quarter of a turn.
If you reach under the column and grab the **** with your right hand (fingers pointed up), rotate it counter clockwise to provide power to the wiper motor. (This is the position it should normally be in.)

68 windshield wiper not working
Switch is in the correct placement. Wiper motor is a 68 and the harness was purchased through the forum by someone that sells parts regularly however I am at his say so. It looked the same when installed.
Thanks for responding. I am looking for perhaps a manual that can explain how the system works. Assembly manual is not detailed enough.

Fuse? Have you checked/did you change the wiper relay? Are you certain your used harness was good? Do you have power to the wiper motor?

Might have to check the wiper switch as well they are flimsy.
I just got mine working with lots of reading and replacing with 68 only parts; so ask away.
Wilcox tech section is priceless

CDJ46....
Questions...
1) Have you tested for power on the yellow wire at the motor?
2) Have you tested the motor to see if it runs.
If the over-ride switch didn't do the trick I would do the following.
First I would bench (or car) check the motor. I've posted the video link below for this. I've become lazy in my old age so now I just remove the bell crank nut from the wiper motor and test the motors in the car.
If you follow along with the video it wills show you how to test the motor with ease.
If the motor fails the test then replace the motor. If it works.. post back.

For anyone that is interested it turns out that the red wire was reversed with the white wire. Couldn't do it with out all your help. Thanks again.

Glad you got it worked out. I have two 68's and those wipers are a bi double t ich. Another thing to look out for with them. Make sure you have the under dash switch in the right position or you will drain your battery in a couple days.....ask how I know
