Default Petcock ideas?

I have a 72 and the radiator drains directly onto the frame extension crossmember. I'm looking for ideas to redirect the flow away from the frame.

I started with a 90 degree street elbow on the radiator (pointing rearward) and an extention pipe coupled to a standard petcock. That works with one exception, and that's getting the elbow to point in the exact position needed so the extension will clear. As my luck would have it, I had to back the elbow out just a bit (a quarter turn), and I'm concerned about leaking at this point. I don't want to force nearly a full turn more to make sure it's tight, especially since this is a new radiator!

Idea #1: Drill a 1" hole in the crossmember, remove the elbow and run the extention pipe straight up into the radiator.

Idea #2: Go back to the 90 degree elbow idea, but this time JB Weld it in place.

Anybody get creative with this before or can offer some other ideas?

Can you find a petcock with a hose nipple so you can connect a hose and run the coolant where you want it to go?

I thought about that and looked around, but didn't find anything. It's so tight in there that there's no play room. Just a dumb afterthought, even if it was a thought. The hole in the crossmember is a likely candidate unless one gets pretty lucky with using an elbow that will tighten up enough to have an extension pipe work. I'm going to see if I can get away with it. Uh, what's the number for the radiator drain bung hotline?

That's what I did on both my 79s.
Think I got them in the "Help!" section of my local Pep Boys.

Maybe something like this and clamp a hose to the end?

I had petcocks on both sides of my block and the regular one on the radiator. I made a little u-shaped channel, with one end closed, out of tin foil. I opened the radiator petcock and then slid the tin foil channel under the petcock and hardly lost any fluid doing it. I know it's just a temporary thing, but it worked fine.

When I changed the coolant on my '71 LT1, I sucked out the coolant using one of those hand vac pumps with the squeeze ball. No mess, just make sure you have a long enough hose to reach the bottom of the radiator tank.
