Hello, I'm new to this forum and this discussion may have happened several times . I'm interested in buying a 1980 Vette and the buyer tells me that it has a new 350/330hp GM crate engine, do any of you have this engine in your C3's ? are they a good replacement ? do they lower the value of the car ? I don't know anything about it.
The 330hp/380tq crate engine is a solid crate motor for a good price. Makes a great foundation for improvements.
It really can't lower the value of an '80 vette... at least not for another 10-15 years, maybe never. I can't see the shark cars ever really becoming collectible like the chrome-bumper cars so you should have less to be concerned with about originality.
I have the '80 L48 and have gone through it in the process of improving performance and maintaining.
I have a 350/330 crate engine in one of my cars (not a Vette), and it's an excellent engine. Unless you want ***** to the wall performance, it should do everything you want.
Now...if you want to add a supercharger...it has the specs that most blower applications specify for best performance from a bolt-on unit.
