I am executor of the estate of a deceased relative. In inventory of the estate I came across what appears to be a GM big block V8. This block is in an old shed along with other stuff....some good and a lot junk. I have been by myself in the process of settling this estate and was unable to horse this block around in order to find stampings. Will the block numbers be in the same location as those on a SBC? This block is likely from a truck rather than a muscle car,

Default GM big block

OK, got my answer about the GM big block I came across in the estate of which I am executor. Unfortunately, nothing to get excited about. According to the numbers it is a '73 to '85 454, car and truck. Just dreaming about it being ID'd as a C3 application. Oh well, everybody knows there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

It's still a big block. Could be a four bolt main. Worth investigating further anyway.
