I was planning on working on my car & found a massive swarm of bees when I opened the door  The soonest I can get someone out is Tuesday.
I was thinking of hooking up a metal hose to the tailpipe of my other car and pluming it into the garage, flooding it with carbon monoxide. Will this work?
Any other ideas?
The bees are a real PITA where I live! Already this year, bet I've knocked down 20 - 30 nests! Don't know what it is about this area, but they sure like my property!
Wait till after sunset, (they're all home and won't leave) get a big can of hornet spray, and soak the nest. Works every time for me! :smash:

Re: Help! Bee Hive in garage! (71coupe)
If there are more than a couple dozen bees I think I'd call a bee keeper to collect them. Happened to me many years ago---except they landed in a tree in the shape of a 3 foot -football!
I can usually handle smaller numbers with a Spectracide mix which kills them almost instantly. Don't know how a hive would react though. I've also used Diazinon powder in a vegetable duster.
Be CAREFUL. Living in San Diego, they may very well be Killer Bees. You don't want to mess with them. Call a Bee Keeper and play it safe.

I was thinking the same thing... Those "africanized" bees are moving north from mexico. They are much more aggressive than regular bees but look the same. I KNOW THIS cuz I've seen it on the Discovery Channel!!!
but seriously, I believe it is true... On the other hand, I have sprayed hornets nests after dusk, so that would probably work too... MJ
Thanks for the replys.
I'll probably wait until Tues & let the pros do it. The estimate they gave my wife was $200-$400,
Depending on the size of the hive.
I need to get my 'Vette outta there before all of that bee poop drys on it. :U
If they bomb the garage will it damage my paint?

Re: Help! Bee Hive in garage! (Wightnite)
You could call animal wildlife agency or police they can put you in touch with the right people.
Agree with Wighnite---If you're calling somone call the police or wildlife people first. The "bee keep" didn't charge me a dime.
The nasty bees around here are the one's that build nests in the ground. That wasp/bee spray available in the stores which shoots a 12 foot stream is very good too. The bees really hate it....it's almost like an acid to them!
Find a bee keeper! He will gladly take the swarm off your hands, without charginhg you for it. My Dad used to do it all the time. It was a free hive for the bee keeper! Roger L. Gibbons
Had a bee hive underneith my pools toprail. Didn't know it was there til on day while in the pool, I was leaning over rail and "WHAM" got stung by two damn bees. I was so pissed-off I ran into the vettes house, (garage), returned to the hive armed with a full can of WD-40 and killed the whole nasty nest! :D That's my bee story. However do be carefull. I would follow all of the above CF members advice! Can they enter you're house via the garage? L8TER, Paul.
"Bees" are a very sensitive insect and are relatively easy to kill. Even soapy water will kill them, but takes too long. They will not leave the hive after dark, so they are vulnerable at night. Wasp/hornet spray will easily kill them. Do it at night, and clean up in the morning. Then you'll have an awesome KILL story!! :smash:
