Default Power take off with automatic

Okay, so I have a 'stage II' shift kit, question is; on the advise of 1Bad69, I put the tranny in 1st, then when it gets to about 4000, I shift it to 2nd, but when I do that, the thing dosn't shift 'till it's up to about 5200. So obviously, I need to shift later then what I'm doing but if I do that the tach needle starts bouncing, which looks cool, but very unnerving at the same time. Any thoughts, am I playing with trouble by trying to shift the car in this fashion, or should I just let the auto do what it was built to do?

If your valvebody shifts at 5200, and you give it full throttle, it'll probably shift at full throttle regardless.
How is it on mild throttle operation? When I rev mine up w/ about half throttle, maybe less, and shift anywhere past 3k, it usually shifts instantly.

You need to disable or at least readjust the "detent" switch. Othwerwise it will not shift up until redline or close to it.
