I have recently experienced a strange phenomenon with my power door locks in my 78. The problem is that the power lock switch on the passenger side will neither lock nor unlock the doors. The power lock switch on the driver's side will only lock the doors, not unlock them. I was wondering what are some things I can check right away that may be causing the problem so that I don't have to rip apart my car searching for the culprit. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You didn't mention it but you may want to check out the power lock mechanisms themselves too.
I had a 78 SA a while back with a similar issue. The power locks and related linkages in each door had years of dust and greasy type gunk build up and were too stiff to work even though the switches were ok and they were getting power. They could unlock but were too gunked up to pull the locks back in. I took them out cleaned 'em up and they worked fine after that. That job will require taking the door panel off and going into the door to get them out though. Just a thought....
