Default 72 windshield frame

Does anyone know who sells the lower outer corner of the windshield frame for a 72 Vette? I have checked the Doc, Wilcox, Corvette America, Corvette Central and Paragon. They either don't carry it or if they do its for 73-82.

Default Corvette parts

If I understand the piece you need is actually the metal that extends under the top of the rear fender.
New this GM part has metal that is exposed to the elements and the back side of it can be seen looking under your dash.
If the top part on your 1972 has rusted and you are going to replace it, you may be able to obtain good sheet metal from a donor steel car. Cut out the rusted piece and weld in the sheet metal.
I did a lot of windshield rust repair on my 1970 in 86-87 and was able to buy the parts from my local Chev parts dept. The lower piece did have a upper metal and lower metal. The upper is what rusted but the lower sheet metal was not rusted so I cut from the new pieces from the upper portion that I needed for each side and welded them on.
One thing I found on my original was that under the fiberglass support that was in place when the car was built had a stamped/cut out hole that water could leak into the interior when the fiberglass support did not seal to this lower portion of the windshield.
I was also surprised that the new pieces I bought from GM even had the stamped/cut out hole. This hole was welded closed when I installed the new pieces. This discovered hole explained why water leaked into my 1970.
If this part is available for a 73-82 I would speculate that it would be the same, or something you could use.

I could not find any reproductions for my 71 three years ago. I fabricated patches for mine (as many others have done) from sheet metal.

You checked with Willcox. Sometimes they have some used parts. Did you ask if they happened to have any used pieces?

Also, If you can't find any new pieces, maybe a place like this might have the sections that you need.

Scott,

Here's the info for that guy in Rogers. Jack Moore 479-531-9100. Maybe he has a donor car that you can cut that lower right portion from and graft it onto you car. Worth a try since he is right here in NWA.

SO I gotta ask, for you guys that have done this repair job... what's the difference between the 68-72 windshield frame/ birdcage compared to the 73 and up? I didn't know there was any difference in them. Was there something that changed in 73 with the elimination of the wiper door or what?
