Re: BIG, COMPETITION TYPE GAS CAP.... (SIGNGUY)
Click on the LeMan's fuel filler for info and the link to corvettefaq.com too. Rolling Thunder & I were involved in that project. I'm the other guy Dave refers too. Actually I just gave Dave ideas & he had the necessary items fabricated. :D It ain't cheap though. :nonod:
Re: BIG, COMPETITION TYPE GAS CAP.... (1970 Stingray)
wow...thank you SO much...
so i see now that this is not just a "bolt on"...
actually i have a 79 and i was curious how it would look on that type of body, with the rear window being what it is and all...
thanx again!
Maybe you could adapt a filler from a midyear? The opening on my `65 is 3". You can easilly see into the bottom of the tank on mine and, if you see something you don't like, it'd be easy to take care of.

That might work. I don't think Dave & I thought of that one. I don;t think the opening diameter matters as much as the length of the flange between the tank and deck surface.
Will the C2 flange bolt up to the C3 tank, and at the correct slope of the rear deck? Dunno. Like I said, it ain't easy. The Baldwin Motion caps were merely decorative. Ours bolt directly to the tank thanks to Smart Dave. :D :D
