A member e-mailed me this morning on the above-referenced topic. I have not posted on the subject for many months and thought that there are many new members who might be interested to know of the existence of these units. They are folding vinyl tops that tuck away into a carrying bag. They are lightweight (~6 lbs) and very convenient for those sunny days with a threat of a shower. I find the fiberglass tops are fine when the car is parked at home but they are cumbersome when driving. And easily scratched when stacked; even in carrying bags.
The subject of this morning was fit. Mine install very well and rubber weatherstripping takes up the slack of any minor mis-alignment. Actually I have never used them in the rain as I do not drive on wet days. But having them in the back does give me some comfort if a shower threatens during a cruise day. I suspect they will drip-leak in a major rainfall and at speed but certainly that is better than a flood.
These are not the velcro version seen in Corvette catalogues. They have the mounting pins at the back, brackets in the T middle and a clamp at the windshield mounting point. The manufacturer (AmTop) has long since gone out of business but the tops appear on E-Bay from time-to-time. I recommend them.
i would LOVE to find a pair of those :)
i have a brand new set of glass tops that i keep on the car and an old pair of painted ones that i leave in the car...
take glass tops out...go for a ride...if it rains just pull out the painted ones and slap em in...dont really care if i scratch em...
however...they are heavy and take up too much room and those vinyl ones would be better!
thanx for shareing that pic with us :yesnod:
Nice pics Paul. BTW, I got mine from Ronnie about two weeks ago. They are very nice. Light weight, and they fold in half for easy storage. :yesnod: Out of my glass, fiberglass, and vinyl tops, I will just start taking the vinyl ones with me and leave the other heavy ones at home!

Paul those are great! But I keep wondering why you brag about them so much when they are next to impossible to find for ourselves? It's like you're dangling cheese right in front of our noses!!
I did preface the post by saying it was for newbees ;) . Seriously, watch E-Bay. They do come up from time-to-time. And if the seller is a fair-weather driver like me, they never have been used.
