I am thinking about yanking the quadrajunk off of my '69 and putting a FI system on it. I would rather not replace the manifold so I am leaning toward the 700 CFM Holley 4d system.
Anyone using one? Is it the one with preset fuel curves or is it adjustable? Is the custom adjustable one worth an extra $200 for a cruiser (i.e. not raced)?
Anyone know of a competing system that works well?

I went that route before. The ECU is rather crude.
Use the Holley Commander 950 ECU - either throttle body or MPI.
The old Holley Projection CPU just doesn't cut the mustard!

I'm in the process of installing a 900DI setup on my 70 L-46. First I installed the MSD 6AL and pro billet Vette tach drive dist . Next is the DI. The best thing about this is I'm going to be able to use the laptop feature for tuning. (fuel map adjusting, timing control)
Everyone said I couldn't hook it up to the MSD stuff. I wanted to keep the mechanical tach functioning, so I finally got the solution to the problem from Holley and MSD tech's. This way I'll retain the msd setup which I wanted and have the adjustability of the Holley system.
I don't believe the "Holley D system" has the tuning ability of the DI. Neither are as good as the commander setup. I could have upgraded to the commander for a $1000.00, but I would still have to rig up the MSD just like I'm doing with the DI. Not worth the cost for the wiring harness and control unit.
I think the only difference is the commander is adjustable while the engine runs, and the D, and DI need a "no run" to adjust.
If your interested in the set up to retain your mechanical tach let me know.

OK, here goes. You will need a 8 pin ignition module( I'm using Holleys# 891- 103). Also a heat sink(any radio shack or equivalent)
Starting with the 6AL box. Might seem strange, since I'm using a MSD ditributor, but the magnetic trigger connector(green and violet), on the box is not used. From the loose wires on the box, the heavy black and red to the battery, preferably. The orange(+), and the black(-) to the coil. The red to a switched power( have a terminal in the fuse panel for this). Splice in another red lead into this wire. This spliced wire along with the white wire from the 6AL box go to module 2 wire connector(there's a "C" and a "+" on the module) White to "C" and red to "+". This is the coil side of the module. The 4 pin connector is also on this side for reference. The pro jection 4 wire plug goes to the module 4 pin connector. (Use Holley adapter #534-47 to connect) The last 2 terminals on the module ("P" and "N" run to the MSD distributor violet +, and green wires. Mount the module with the heat sink on the fire wall and your ready to go. If I can figure out how to add the techs schematic to my sig I'll post it. A lot easier to understand.

Exactly which system are you running, where did you get and what did it cost in total to set up? I have the 6a and billet dist so I am half way there. Sounds very interesting. I am going to search the Holley website too.

Edlebrock has a 1000cfm system that you can tune down to something more like the 700cfm you want or whatever I guess.
I looked at that setup. It's a MPFI that requires you use their manifold. Holley has a setup like that as well. I would rather not get that far from original on my car. It's just a small block but it is number's matching car so I want to be able to put it back to stock easily.
Thanks for the info! I had planned on sticking with the stock distributor and not letting the computer control the timing, but I think I may have to check into your solution. It sounds too sweet to ignore.

I'm running the 900 cfm 4DI. I bought at a very good price here on the forum. The 950 goes for 1200.00 or so. You have to set that up the same way to run the MSD stuff. You won't find this setup explained on the Holley site. I lucked out at a NHRA national where the Holley and MSD tech's were set up with tents. I ran from one tent to the other to make sure they both agreed with the setup of their systems in this. I'll post the schematic later.
