I believe it will work in a 78, the controls have to be modified using one of the VA control kits. Glove box, different problem.

I rebuilt the system in my 78 to factory specs. Found a new, not rebuilt, Delphi compressor at NAPA. New rubber hose. Replaced evaporator, flushed system, even refilled it with R-12. I found and air conditioning guy in town that had R-12. He recommended using that because that is what the system was designed for.

The system works great, keeps you cool in 90+ degree days.

When I had mine apart I switched over to R134A and a serpentine setup. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...coversion.html

I bought the R134A conversion parts and a 87' vette ac compressor from Ecklers.

Also, upgrade the ground wire going to your ac/ heat fan to 10 gauge and run it to a good ground like the frame. It'll work much better with a good ground.

I bought the pro6ten compressor. I love it. Polished aluminum. 10lb lighter than the A6. I went with R-134, new steel and rubber lines. VIR eliminator. Parallel flow condenser. C4 fan with spacer.

Make sure your max ac setting closes the plenum door and opens the recirc door by the pass. kick panel.
