Rochester Carb Torque
Anyone know the correct torque for the q-jet carb bolts to a 78 L48 aluminum intake? Had the carb rebuilt and can't find the bolt torque anywhere. Don't want to crush the fat carb gasket.

Dont know the exact number but it is very low. (be careful not to read "inch pounds" as "foot pounds". There is an online article on replacing your carb that makes that mistake!!!) You are right to be careful. Easy to overtighten and bend something on the carb or strip the bolts. MJ

Dont know the torque,but I did up my carb and every thing was fine in about a week engine was idling poor , carb was sucking air big time had to around and tighten all the screws and bolts.I still may pull the carb to get at the screws under the base plate, and I know I tightened everything when I first did the carb.
