Installing hedman headers on my 77...>
(maybe most C3's are the same installation?)
I've installed in my Camaro, however, I've never done a Corvette before.

I just installed Summit headers ($79.00) this weekend. They are identical to the headmans and makes me think they are the same.
The only problem I ran into was the clutch linkage had to come apart to fit the drivers side in, other than that it is a simple install. I did them from under the car on jack stands in about 2 1/2 hours with mating my present dual exhaust to them.
When I started I put a whole day away like I had to do for my T/A but the Vette is a brease to work on and I was done in no time.
You guys are great...any questions I have had have been found through searching the archives...wish more people understood that....Mike
You will want to do the following preparatory steps.
1. Remove Alternator and AC compressor - if equipped
2. 4-spd cars remove Z-bar
3. Remove Starter
4. Remove all spark plugs - precaution to prevent breaking an insulator
5. pull all wiring out of the way.
Test fit each side with the gaskets - before tightening them up all the way make sure you dont need to dimple any tubes - I had to dimple a tube slightly on the Passenger side to clear the Idler arm.
If you need to dimple a tube - use the engagement end of a 1/2" drive extension bar (where it attaches to the ratchet) this has about a 3/4" diameter and is very strong - several persuasive hits with a hammer agains the side of this part will dimple the tube without ruining the finish (assuming ceramic coated)
You will be surprised how easily they go in from underneath - it is very helpfull if you have an assistant who can start the bolts while you are holding the headers up from below.
Dont waste your time trying to install from above - you might be able to do that on the passenger side - but the driver side - forget it. from underneath is fast and quite painless.
Once installed - fire it up - and uncorked header just sounds awesome :yesnod:
