we got the rear in this weekend was a major PITA i now beleave in Murphy's law. well we did get it on the road sat. night ,went from a 3:08 to 3:70 . the car has a 454 LS6 and was already quick . it was like a different car the 3:70 gear felt strong i could see a in crease in RPM's rev up much faster. after a few 1st to 2nd runs the half shaft came apart :( we'll see what caused the brake down fix it :smash: and try again  i'm hoping it's just to much HP :D jim
Sorry to hear that it broke......My car improved Dramatically when I did the rear from 3:08 to 3:73......Like night and day..What caused the Breakage..I did not romp on mine until like 150 miles had ticked by..They say to create a "wear pattern" on the gear
Good to hear, hope you get the 1/2 shaft fixed ok. I have just over 400 miles on the 373's I installed. The only problem so far was the parking adjustment was too tight after I rebuilt the rear bearings and arms.

What trans are you running? A 3.70 might be a bit steep with a WR 4-speed like an M-20. Overal Drive Ratio in first would be the same as a 4.27 rear and an M-21. With all the torque of the LS-6 you're gonna have a tough time either: A) getting traction, or B) breaking stuff.

Re: 3:70 rear test run (Aaron-74)
i went from a 190Hp to 350 and a 3.08 to a 3.70. I can't wait to drive it. It will be like death and life...
Same here -- L-48 to ZZ4.
3.08's in there now --- 3.73's will be in there in 2 1/2 weeks.
I have the 700R4 transmission -- should make for some awesome first gear launches (tire smoking).
I changed last year to a 3:70 rear gear, and now I have my BB 467 with the Muncie M-20. Things happen real fast with that setup!!!!! I had a 3:36 originally that probably would have been fine with the BB. It sure gets going fast, on the down side I am spinning 3100 rpms at 60mph. Like someone said it really depends on what tranny you have. For my setup the 3:55 would most likely been a better choice.
got the half shaft and flange off last night looks like we didn't have the clips seated good. put a dent in the shock and another on the cross member the half shaft and flange are dameged and need to be replaced. but that seems to be all. well i'm not sure what trans. is in the car , i was told by the past owner it is a m22 but i'm not sure. all i know is it screams now. jim

If in 1st and 2nd you can hear the transmission over the engine, then there's a pretty good chance it's a M22, it almost sounds like a granny gear in a truck in the first two gears.
