Can a 68 frame be used on a 69 coupe. Any alignment or other major differences?

Much different in the front, and the 69 has some beneficial modifications. It would be best to find a 69-72.

The only difference that I'm aware of, between the 68 and 69-72 frames, are 2 additional gussets in the rear. These gussets were added from the crossmember by the number 3 body mounts, up to the rear frame kick ups. If you have access to a good 68 frame, you can add the 2 gussets to the 68 frame. You can buy the gussets new, for about $50 each, or possibly remove the old ones from your 69 frame.

The 68 front frame extensions are different than 69-72 extensions, but these are bolt on's, so you should be able to reuse your 69 pieces.
