I am following Lars' paper on setting timing. Dwell is set to 30 degrees. I have an adjustable timing light dialed in to 36 degrees. Refer to the picture below showing the timing line on the harmonic balancer (opposite the 8) and the timing plate. The engine was stopped. My question: when checking the timing at 36 degrees and 2500 RPM ("all in"), what notch (or where) should the timing line be at? Thanks. Fran
See that really big notch, with the zero next to it? That's the one. The dial-back timing light uses magic to show the timing mark at zero, when it's really at 36 degrees (if you have it set at 36 degrees, anyway) it's really a very clever little contraption!
