Anyone have any experience with the GM LS 327 ? I know there have been lots of LS swaps but I haven't been able to find anything on a LS 327 into a C3. Going Carb and it looks to be plenty for what I want - a modern clean looking LS engine for my resto-mod.

The 5.3 engines were used in trucks and SUV's. They should be plentiful out there and are probably the least expensive LS engine to buy used. Depending on the year, they make anywhere from 260 to 300 HP NET. It doesn't take a lot of work to get them well up over that.

I have a 5.3, it is closer to 323 cubic inches if you do the math. I make a little over 300hp. It is no different externally from any other LS. This one was cheap and I am using it to work out all of the bugs in my swap. A built 6.0 will soon take its place. I am using injection, as it was one of the main reasons for the swap. The truck engines especially the LQ9 6.0 are a bargain in my opinion.

you mite be able to use the elderbrock ignition/intake kit on it .it is a stand alone set up.look for a 5.3 with 243 heads.consider a small cam kit from Texas Speed .

It moves Silverado down the road pretty good considering it probably weighs 2000 lbs more than your C3. A smallish cam headers it will rip and have stock manners great mpg. Hard to break one of those I can tell you that. First 60k of mines life I drove it hard every day 150k and still runs like a top. They make a little lifter noise on cold start nothing wrong with it. Good bang for the buck!

Turn Key Engines has complete packages, if your interested in buying a new crate engine. LS1 Tech has a carb'd section and there is a lot of good info available. What are the advantages of a carb'd LS over a carb'd sbc? The biggest reason to go LS is the efi system they come with.

A turn key ZZ4 from pace performance is $5700 versus $7k for an LS 5.3L from Turn Key. Both are 350fwhp with the ZZ4 having more torque.

Buy a low mileage used LM7/L59 (under $1k. Keep the fuel injection (mid 20s mpg). If you want more top end, get a cam/springs.
