Default $161.35(CDN) for a U-joint!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I figured this was insane enough to create a thread just for this GM dealership price, Brian Cullen Chevolds (dealership in St. Catherines, Ontario). $161.35 for one U-joint, not made of Titanium, not heavy duty just a standard U-joint for a half shaft. Oh to put in perspective, Pep Boys is charging $8.00 (US) for the same part, Canadian Tire wants $18 (cdn) for standard, and $24(cdn) for heavy duty....Going to Canadian Tire, later this week. :yesnod: I'd go to Pep Boys, but by the time I bought the gas had my Canadian Pasos converted, it would cost the same, not to mention the over zealus Canadian Customs agents.

That's insane, and criminal that they can charge that much, for that much the u-joints should come with the half shafts attached. Our local dealer wants $130 each for the t-top rubber strips that go around the glass edge...they can keep them, the crooks.

Yes, they are the non-greaseable type.

Edit-Darn, I can't find that receipt. The pic is from last year when someone asked the same question. But if you visit any large truck repair facility they will deal in Spicer drive-line components. That's where I got mine. It took three weeks to come in from the USA, however.

I got my spicer (non greasable heavy duty) from a driveline specialty place here in Orlando They were about $ 20 us. Come down here on vacation with the rest of the money GM wants and get some U-joints while you here.  DO NOT use anything but Spicers on the half shaft. There is a recent thread on U-joint explosion.

This page contains telephine numbers in Canada. They may point you to a retailer in your area.

Sound like typical GM, I am sick and tired of them charging that kind of money for parts that are not any better then what Canadian Tire sells for.
I am looking for a new tail lense for my 2000 chev Malibu and you know what GM wants for abrand new one $400 I told them they where nuts - I am getting sick and tired of this from GM- I always purchased GM cars but lately with their so called purchase financing and suppsoed cash back offers on a new truck that i am looking at, this is starting to get to me - its funny how they advertise a price on a new truck but when you are willing to give them the advertise price the truck does not exist or they pull this B.S. on you with extra charges - one week they will give you the truck for a cash price and the next week that price is not valid if you decide to finance it through GMAC credit, if you finance it then they still get the cheque directly from GM anyways - the dealers in Winnipeg and there so called parts counter personal are a joke
