Default New Interior

I bought a 75 last year, Silver/Silver. The interior is in ruff shape, but mechanically it's mint. I just ordered most of what I need, new door panels, carpet, and seat covers. It needs more than that but I don't want to take on too much. Is is worth trying to install this myself? I am pretty mechanically inclined but have never done anything like this before. I contacted a local guy who does interior work and he wanted about $600.00 to do it all. I also ordered a new front bumber, the one on it now is cracked. I need to get it painted and figured why not get the whole car painted as well. The current paint job isn't bad but there is lots of orange peal and I could do without that. It would be helpful if anyone knew what kind of price I should expect. I went to one place and they wanted $500.00 to paint and install the bumper. That seemed kinda high but everything for this car seems to be expensive. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks, :flag

If your fairly mechanically inclined then you should be good to go. Just remember to measure, measure and measure again before you do any cutting. I replaced or redied everything in the interior of my 81 and if I can do it You can too. Take your time and you'll be good to go. Here is a pic of my finished product. Anything I can help out with feel free to ask.

I just took my bumper off a few days ago.. it's really not that hard of a job. You just have to take a few brackets off to get to the bolts.. most of them will probably snap off due to the rust so you will either need new retainers or just new screws.. Don't get a shop to install it. they charge way to much for stuff like that. When i got an estimate for taking off sanding painting and reinstalling my bumper they wanted 8 hours labour JUST to take the damn thing off... i did it in 2... saved me about $600 right there... If you have any questions IM me. :seeya

I went a bit further. The plastic, stamped out look didn't appeal to me so I bought a commercial sewing machine and covered all my interior panels...even the doors and speedo/tach piece with naughahyde. That was over 20 years ago and it still looks pretty good. The seats are from a seventies something 'Vette that I reupholstered a few years ago. All in all, the interior now, at least to me, is the way it should look. I've got a couple of pieces that need some help...but the car is over 30 years old. We're all starting to show our age.
