Amazing Bubba job on otherwise nice '69. Bubba musta lost a speed nut for the RF chrome grill molding so he used epoxy to glue the molding to the body to keep it from flopping around  Fortunately its only about 3" of ugly old epoxy I need to remove. Anyone know how to get this off without hurting the finish underneath? Epoxy is to the upper right outside of molding as you view from front. All the lower nuts are in place and attached right, why Bubba didn't just remove the lower middle nut to use for missing top right one, I'll never know. BTW, thanks for help on carb whistle, torqued it down and it killed whistling noise by about 90%, can live with that :)

I hope someone out there has a better reply than mine, but I don't think there's any way to remove epoxy without damaging the finish underneath. It sounds like you have removed the chrome? So all you have left is this blob of epoxy? If that's the case, I would try something like a Dremel tool to knock off the high spots, then hit it with sandpaper until the glue is gone. Count on doing a little bit of touch-up, but if you are really careful and take your time, you may not have much to refinish. My .02 - good luck!

Try one of those high-power adhesive removal products (Goof-off??) that will remove adhesives but are safe on painted surfaces before you sand it! The stuff smells like it will kill you but I've used it to remove RTV, gasket sealers, and all kinds of stuff. It just may save you time and $s! Good Luck!
