Who do you recommend for Delco radio repair. It's a 1970 AM-FM stereo. All the places I call in my area, mid Michigan, tell me that they would have to ship it out. I would just as soon ship it myself and cut out the handling fee.
I used to love fixing those things in my younger days. I'm 41 and now I have a sweet position as an electrical engineer at Harris Communications. What's wrong with it? Maybe I can give ya few suggestions. Woops!... Time for the holidays...I'll be on vacation for the rest of the week. Send me some info and I'll get back to you.
I sent mine to a place called United Radio. They were recommended by the guys at the local Chevy deakership.
When they received my radio, they called me with a quote for the amount of the repair. Radio has been working great for 3 years.
E-mail if interested, I can dig the information out.
My brother-in-law has been doing GM radio repairs for many years. He has fixed three or four GM radios for me that I have bought on ebay and resold. He worked for a contractor to NASA as an electrical engineer and is now retired. Email me and I will give you his email address. BTW, he is in Huntsville, AL.
I have been trying to select a repair facility for my '70 U69 (mono) radio. I've been scanning Ebay for restored radios for sale, and have asked the sellers who they used. It seems Dr. Don's might be a good choice. http://www.doctordons.homestead.com/
Please note: I have NOT used Dr. Don's yet, but the unlimited repair warranty sounds good (at least until the good doctor passes on!).
PS: Hey 1970LT1, have you registered your car on 1970corvetteregistry.org?
If you want to add some ***** to that radio you can have 21st century electronics installed. A friend of mine works for American Classic Restorations. He is very meticulous, and can make that old Delco sound like a Bose. When done you can't tell by looking that radio was up-graded. To see some of his work do web search. Site is otherwise very interesting too.
