I saw a mid year a couple years ago with an honest-to-goodness 4 cyl Toyota engine in it and it was four wheel drive. :eek: :eek: The wheels stuck out so far it looked like a slot car racer!! It was painted all psychedelic (sp). Made me wanna :U. I thought I'd seen it all and then you post this........thanks a lot. :cry Some people..... :lol: :lol:

Each to his own. It doesn't sound like a terrible modification to me. It is easily reversable, still looks stock, and he's getting 45-55 mpg. But then, I LIKE diesels ;). It's certainly not what I'd do to a vette, but it is interesting.

Milage may vary, however the canadian gallon is an Imperial gallon that is 5 US quarts, That might explain the milage.

While I personally do not like diesel engines in cars (trucks are OK, especially for hauling), and I tend to be more of a purist (especially on early C3s), why is a car completely modified with a different gas engine better than one with a diesel engine?

Diesel has it's place. Like in my 2002 2500HD. NOT in a Vette.
I was offered a 77 for sale the other day for $4500. The catch was.........

Actually does diesel still have the run on probs? a family member had a boat that the engine blew up in... turbo charged boat, kept feeding when he turned off the key... eventually threw a rod...

If all he was concerned with was mileage why not put a 3 cyl. Sprint engine in it. I am most definately on 67Heavens hunting team on this one.
