What pads would be the right choice for my 74 stock Vette? Different parts stores offer different pads. Organic vs semi met vs ceramic.

Organic pads are the dirtiest and are old school,

Semi Metallic offer better stopping power and heat dissipation

Ceramic pads do not offer the best heat dissipation and on old style Rotors may eat into them faster.

My choice would be the Semi Metallic pads on an older car like the Corvette. because it is heavy and

my 68 with manuel brakes Wilwood caliphers Hawk HP pads and carbonized rotors requires less pedal effort than my 69 power brake all stock brake system. look at either Wilwood or Hawk pads. they have charts to help pick out pads for your type of driving. luck to you. TR

I had organic, loved them, but they only lasted about 6 months, they stop GREAT! very dirty tho. I tried ceramic and they last forever but my breaking suffered, took more effort to stop.

 

I use organic and haven't had any issues, ever, for street driving.

I've used the Carbotech 1521 on many car and is my favorite pad. At this time the C3 is using Hawk HPS Performance as I needed them fast.
