I would like some help. My 1982 vette won't start. It has the crossfire fuel injection system. It tries but can't stay running. Tried the fuse for fuel pump, checked fuel relay and in line fuse....can hear fuel pump start running....car still won't start. Does anyone out there know what the problem is and how to remedy it? http://forums.corvetteforum.com/imag...ies/woohoo.gif
Check out the "sticky" for 82 CFI owners in the above section, it is a good starting point to correct your problem(s). Good luck!!!!................................ ......Tom
Thank you all for your input. I hate to ask but where is the fuel filter located? I have read that it is under the passenger's foot and the car has to be elevated to get to it. Is that true? Is there a website that I can go to to find out these things about my car?
it is under the passenger side feet....shouldn't be a problem, put it on stands and have at it (use wd40 or equivalent before attempting)
Do yourself a huge favor and get a shop manual....that along with the forum and you should be all set.
give us a little background; when was the last time it was running? Did it die on you or has is sat for years? I pulled my 82 from the brink of doom and now have it running great, you can too if you stick with a systematic approach to troubleshooting. Follow the sticky and ask questions and we can help you get your car running

You really need to read the "sticky" for the 82, otherwise you will just replacing parts that may not need replacement. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-t...solutions.html
Post #1 gives you quite a bit of info for the 82.....use it.....
Things you need to do:
Get the factory shop manual, no other has the information you will need.
Read the sticky on the problems of '82 X fire.
The filter is on the passenger inside frame rail, use a large pan to catch the gas when the old filter is removed.
If your sputtering or running then dying out, it's usually fuel pressure.
Check
1) pump working
2)fuel filter
3)fuel pressure
4) sometime the fuel pressure regulator gets stuck when a car isn't used.
Good Luck and once its sorted out, you'll have a very reliable car!!! I run mine as a daily driver as long as the weather is not raining
