I'm getting a 72 hardtop with a 350. I'd like to put a 427 in it but keep the 350 as is. What would be the proper way to store the engine? On a hoist? On blocks? Does it need to be sprayed with anything to keep it from freezing? Pure antifreeze or no antifreeze? Not quite sure what to do and taking it completely apart seems a bit nonsense to me. Thoughts? Thanx in advance. --Bob
OK, here are my suggestions....first get some engine storage oil used in boatyards up north for winter storage....spray can callede 'Fogging Oil'.....
use as directed, start engne and rev to about 2000 rpm's....then spray into carb/air induction full force untill engine dies....
drain block completely by pulling screw in plugs in each bank lower skirt....
seal off the intake and exhause completely use duct tape maybe a board screwed over the passageways with bolts.... store inside, corner of garage....put rat poison around it on the floor....put up on blocks....
