Default Anybody using Trick Flow Heads???

I was thinking about buying a pair of Trick Flow Heads for my '77, in particular the 66cc CNC machined ones. I was wondering if anybody runs these heads or any other type of Trick Flow Heads.

I run a set of the original Twisted wedge heads and tho they get a bad rap. I haven't had a minutes worth of trouble with them other than having to replace the seals

I got some Aluminum Trick Flows that I just installed. They made a pretty big difference in the power of my '77. I also have Hedman 68301 headers, Comp cams 268h cam, and true dual exhaust. When I did the heads, I also got some 1.52 Roller tipped rockers and new pushrods as well.
good luck

I have a set of the 23 deg 64cc cnc chamber and when I had them on my 383 that engine had some *****. With headers and an x-pipe I bet it would have screamed. I think they are a pretty good deal for the $.

Funny, I was just browsing the Trickflow heads myself. I think they are pretty popular with the Ford motorheads -- their website has stories and picts .... all Ford.

Doesn't mean they don't make excellent Chevy heads also. Just an observation.

Flat out these heads are awesome. I did have to do valve seals but that was minor. All said and done when you go to do a set of Vortech with the same type of parts you will be at more money. These things like rpm's. They also love to drink fuel. More flow=more power.
I have G1 Twisted Wedges.

I had a set of G1 TFs and after I replaced two broken valve springs and all the guises, I likes them a lot. Be sure you get a warranty.

Trick Flow are awsome heads, and the 190cc heads flow like crazy. I compared the flow numbers between the TF 190 64cc vrs the ProTopline 180 64cc, and they are almost identical. For a few hundred $$ less, I bought the aluminum ProTopline. 180 64cc Pro's are also available in Iron for about half the cost of aluminum. Do some comparison shopping, compare price and flow numbers. Take all your components (cam, carb etc..)into consideration before you decide... you'll be glad you did. :yesnod:
Good luck in your decision
Eddie

As a follow up, I striped one of the valve cover bolts holes :bb and had one of our tool and die guys at work put a helicoil in for me. He does some racing and know about porting and he told me that unless I raced it, there was no need to port them since they are pretty clean as is. Made me feel even better about them.

I've been looking at aluminum heads also and have read the discription of the the TF 23 & TF G2's in the Summit Catalog. Could somebody illuminate me as to the advantages of one design over the other. I also want to use my 2.5 Rams head exhaust manifolds will they fit these . Thanks

I have a set of them on my 383cid so far I like them. I had them for a couple years in the box's been scared to use them heard of all the stories about how bad they were. Knock on wood no problems yet. I do have one question to the rest of us using them. Where do I get a sensor to fit the head for temp. readings. Have not called Summit yet.

Well, I think I'll make them my winter project. Later on this month I will be adding headers and an X-pipe also (no cats either :D ).

I'm using a pair of Trick Flows. No problem so far. I've only put a little more than 2700 miles on the engine.
A friend of mine used a pair of new Vortec heads. By the time he paid for new springs and machine work to allow for higher lift, and a Vortec compatible intake, he found that a pair of Trick flow heads could be had for close to the same price that he spent on the Vortecs. We put our engines together last summer and at that time the Trick Flows were $850 a pair. They have since raised the price.

Yep, the price of the trick flows when I was head shopping was the clincher.
I paid under $795.00

I think the ones I'm looking at go for $1,250, plus the cost of the aluminum roller rockers and custom length pushrods.
