Towing a C3
I have a small pickup that is factory rated to tow up to 5,900 lbs (4.0 V6 and 5 speed auto). I know the C3 weighs around 3500 lbs. But do not have any idea what the trailer and assorted needed accessories would weigh. Would I be safe towing a C3 with this truck? I know that, across town or for short distances there should not be any problem, but am thinking about, say, 1000 miles?

Tom, my experience has been that a flatbed trailer (assumption on my part) comes in at about 1200-1500. Just to be safe ask the renter or vendor. Add both together, plus the junk, plus you etc. and it is very close. As long as you are on level ground should be ok, but if you are going through the mountains, I would add trailer brakes and coolers to the truck. Maybe as an option you might want to consider a rental truck either as a tow vehicle or a 21' for the car etc.

Tow capacity also takes into account passengers and in cab cargo. With a 3500 lb vette, 1500 lb trailer, that leaves 900 for the cab. The truck should do fine. The tough parts will be the hills - It will not climb very well. Downhill, use a trailer brake or use a lower tranny gear. So long as you accelerate slowly, don't push it, and keep an eye on the gauges, I don't see a problem.
