Default Speedometer cable lubrication

HI Ive been using White Lithium Grease on my speedo cable as it was very noisy the Lithium Grease work but it doesn't seem to last very long before the noise comes back again (probably lasted about 2,000 miles)
The gease iam using is Master brand and its in a spray can.

Is there something else which will last longer ? iam only lubricating the bottom 2/3 of the cable

you are probably lubing it from the tranny end of the cable .try using some compressed air to force the lube all the way up the cable .

The spray can stuff is kind of thin. I took the entire cable off, pulled the cable out of the housing and used carb cleaner to clean out the housing. Then used compressed air to get all carb cleaner out. Cleaned all old grease off of the cable. Then lubed the cable liberally with synthetic grease and pushed it in one end of the cable housing and worked it in and out. Lubed up the cable again then pushed it into the other end of the housing and worked it in and out there. Then wiped all excees grease off the cable and installed it into the housing. Have not had any problems since. that was two years ago. I am guessing it may need to be done again every 5 to 7 years maybe as the grease gets old and sticky. Hoping the synthetic quality will allow longer.

When I bought a replacement cable it came with a tube of lube that was translucent yellow heaver than lithium grease but I am not sure what kind it was.
