I am installing new aftermarket Auto Meter gauges in my 82 CE.
I have a heavily modified small block
My question is where do I get the water temp from? If I go through the head on the drivers side I think I will pickup extra heat from the headers. I was also told to never go into the thermostat housing because you wont get an actual reading at what the engine is running at? Any ideas??
well the factory ECU picks up the temp from right next to the thermostat housing, so if it's good enough for GM, I'm sure it's fine for your little gauge.
also, if you use the port on the side of the head, the headers will have no affect on it.
So just put it where ever you can access easier, I like the left head myself.
