Your goal??? Your budget???

With the right amount of money any of the 454's will fit, but that still doesn't make it the best idea.

What do you mean by "what years can I use"? What year 454 engine? If so, it shouldn't matter, as long as you have the right flexplate/flywheel.

Stay away from the 1-piece rear main seal stuff unless you want to run an electric fuel pump.

Default 350 to 454

some of the 454 moters have TBI after them and didnt know if i could use them,i was going to upgrade the 350 to a 383 strok but was thinking of putting a 454 in and keeping the 350 for a spare and rebuild it later

Spend your money on great cyl heads and don't look back.
Maybe pickup a good 350 block, park your original engine for safe keeping, and build a 396 with great heads with a roller cam !? It'll cost less and be alittle easier than a switch to BB, but if you really want to punish the drivetrain install a 454 that isn't stock - you'll find ALL of your weak links throughout the drivetrain !!

Yeah, if you go with a newer FI 454, you'll need an electric fuel pump, not that big of a deal, but still, something that you will need to be aware of. Also, I agree with 68post, just soup up your 350, it'll be easier in the long run. Some people just have to have a big block, though, and I can definitely dig that; I have never owned a bog block 'vette, but I have owned several big block muscle cars, and there is just something about a whole lot of cubic inches!
