Default differentail transplant.

I like the look and weight of the 1980-82 vette ,but I feel the rear dana 44 is limited when it comes how much power it can handle .I was thinking of using a differential form a 1979 or old vette.I could fab up a cross member to mount the iron differential to.should I use 3/16 or 1/4 thick steel for the home made cross member ?has any one done this before ?

Send Tracdogg a PM. He knows the rear axles as well as anyone.

As I recall the iron diff will bolt onto your batwing. Maybe I'm getting old but, I think I have seen this done before....

thinks for the link 7t2 ,that is a great thread .I did a search but nothing came up .now I won't be afraid to make more power .Tracdogg has a steel cap for a dana rear diff ,but the iron diff should handle more power .
