Default Quick Brake Question

On my 1978 I'm replacing the rear brakes. There is a spacer shaped like a flat disc. Does it go under the disc on the hub or over the disc and under the wheel or is it just some crap someone put on at some time in the past. I removed it from under the disc.

TIA

Sound like a shim to keep the rotor straight.

I think its "custom" as has been many other items on the car.

With the new rotor on without it the rotor rides right in the middle of the caliper with it its off to one side. Some people shouldn't touch a Corvette. I believe it might be some sort of wheel spacer. But that should go on the outside of the rotor not on the hub. No wonder his new brake job sucked air and couldn't be bled.

It could be a wheel spacer. How thick is the disc? If it's about 1/4" or so that is what it is. Used to get less back spacing for the tires and wheel. This goes over the hub and behind the wheel. Large tires come very close to the rear spring.

Oops, I missed the part about being under the disc. How can the rotor be in the middle of the caliper and off to one side at ther same time?

I think it's a shim. You say you replaced the rotors. Were they already drilled out? If so, the shim was added by a PO.

With new rotors you have to check run out.
