Need alittle help. Went for a drive and noticed a noise in the rear drivers side. Jack up the rear no play in the tire 3 to 9 or 12 to 6 pulled the tire and caliper off, and turned the axle and can hear a noise think it is the parking brake.
I noticed the rivits are still in the rotor so what size drill bit do i use and how easy are they to drill out, any thing i need to know about.
Thanks
The rivet is about 5/16" the head is 5/8" but you don't want to damage the rotor. I'd use a 3/8" or so if you can keep it on center. You only need to cut the head loose. what kind of noise is the car making? A tinning sound?
It is best to put it back on with the original factory orientation. The run-out was set with the rotor mounted on the hub so it is best to put it back the way you found it. Most of us ended up with a car that had already had the brakes "repaired" so the rotor may or may not be aligned correctly.
Had a noise that occurred when turning and sounded like a clunk clunk in the rear. The man I have do a lot of my maintenance told me that the differential needs to have a special additive in it for the limited-slip to work correctly and smoothly. He put it in (don't know the name) and the noise has gone away. It appears the clutch was just "grabbing" when turning even a little radius...
it's not a clunking noise had that when i bought it changed the fluid and all was good this is a scraping noise that i can hear when i turn the axle by hand.
ok had time this weekend to work on the car. Drilled the rivets out no problems there, when i took off the rotor 2 springs fell out and were beyond repair, guess i need to order some parts. put it back together for now and have no noise at least.
