Default Where does this go?

Hello all! I have my AIM book an order along with a few others, but I won't get them till next week. Can someone tell me what this tube is on the front of my carburetor that goes to nowhere? It looks like it reaches over to that other line that has a bolt in it. What is that line for and why did someone cut one side and blot closed the other?

Maybe the air cleaner heat riser door? I don't recall there being an extra T in the vacuum line to the brake booster. Mine has an inline filter there.

When I first got the car it ran really rough, sputtered and stalled if I gave it too much gas. A friend and I noticed the line above with a small metal tube in it so we plugged it up with a bolt. After that it ran even worse. Next we completely removed any obstructions in that tube and now it almost rights normal I would say. I doesn't sputter as bad as it did, but still has some issue. I don't know...

Where ever it is supposed to go, I hope it is plugged. Nice vacuum leak if not plugged.

The white plastic T fitting with the screw in it going to the brake booster should not be there. This is the vacuum diagram for 1976

Where that Bolt is...you should have a Power Booster Filter, I have an 81, and I checked, for your year, 1976, you also need the same. Its's an 8 dollar part at Autozone (#80195). The other line from your Carb is most likely to one of teh components on the Air Cleaner.

Are you saying that someone removed the Vapor canister? Should it be replaced or was it removed on purpose?

Did you look to see if it's still there, in the diagram it's on the passenger side. If not there it was removed to de-smog the car. As far as replacing, that depends on what you intend to do with the car.

I guess I'm torn. I want to keep it all original, but I'd also like to take all the smog crap off too. When I get home I'll look to see if it's there.

If your car has cruise control, that would be my guess. The vapor canister fits way down in the fender and that doesn't look like it has the length.

I'll inspect it tonight and see if I can find it under the fender. I don't think I have CC, but then again, I don't know what some of the buttons in the care are yet.

Ok, I'm going to have to wait for the AIM because I don't see anything that looks like the vapor canister.
