Default 1981 radiator fan question ?

Hi Guys - just pulled out my radiator - can someone please tell me if the electric fan mounted in the fan shroud is stock, or aftermarket?

Here's a pic below... thanks!!

Yes it is stock. All 81s had them. They came on when the heat sensor switch on the motor would close the ground when it got up to around 210.

Hey guys..I just recently got my 81 and I can tell you I DONT have an electric Fan (and I'm sure its due to previous owner taking it out - amoung other things). I do have the Fan and Fan clutch offf the water pump...Question is Do I need to replace the electric Fan and get one back on my 81?? * I would assume yes as more air flow the better, etc.

Yes Sir; The electric fans came on both the 1981 automatic with A/C & all 1982. These were needed on Factory Air Condition cars in city stop & go driving, was what I was told. They do not stay on all the time, like the new cars, which only have electric fans. I have a 1982 fan set-up, if you go to looking for one. But like I said; they were designed to only run when the temp went to 220 or 230 degrees, & shut off at 200?? Can't remember. Ha. ha, Gene
