I was looking from under the nose of my 77 to see how the emblem is held in. It looks like two pointed posts come through but there is no fastners that hold it in. Does anyone know how this is held in. I pushed up from underneath and then grabbed from above. It looks like I could probably wiggle it off, but am a little nervous about getting it back on securely. Also does anyone know what testors paint color matches the red, black and white ....Thanks

Reason: just wanted to add paint question
Testors white and black are pretty spot on for matching color. The red is a little too red. To be a correct match, it needs to be just a slight bit more burgundy.
Many emblems used two-sided tape. The pins were just for location.
Thanks for the reply, that is what it looks like but doesn't that seem to be a weak solution back in 1977. I am picturing the designers working on Chevrolets American muscle car and saying hey, why don't we just forget nuts and bolts and get some tape and stick it on.......

Thanks, I wonder what color you would add to red to create more burgundy?

Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? Some model years use speed nuts on the posts. Others use emblem tape and the posts only locate the flags.

I used the regular flag red. The black and white are the obvious.
I don't know what part of Canada you are from but we have used a company out West called Au-Ve-Co or now I see the name is Auveco. http://www.auveco.com/
Their website calls them 'Tubular Nuts'. Maybe Napa or Bumper to Bumper might carry the line.

Thanks for the reply, I am from Ontario.... haven't heard of Auveco, but I will look it up.
