The lt blue wire should get grounded by either of the door ajar switches when the door is opened. The door ajar switches are the ones at the rear of the door.

Thanks, I'll check if the blue wire path travels to the door switch--wouldn't have thought to look there.
My '68 project car door lite does weird things too....if I tap the driver's door switch a few times in/out----the light comes on....there is a separate ground wire from the door switch to the metal chassis.
Also......the ground wire at the horn relay bracket on the feder well was loose causing the dash warning lites/turn signals to do some goofy stuff.
(Side Note: It's 4:30 a,m. here....but the post says 6:30 a.m.......must be that international clock??????)
