Date coded Carpet
I decided to pull the carpet on the 69/427 I bought a few months ago as there was a wear/heel mark on the drivers side. I never expected this. It looked like new on both sides except for the clutch mark.
Every piece had a date code on the back. Original.... 45 years...
I was pretty impressed that GM could come up with something that would last in a wet area with dirt on your feet and still look pretty nice after 45 years...

I noticed similar labels on the back of my '75 convertible's carpeting when I replaced it a couple of months ago. Mine is a 60,000 mile car, but the carpet was faded, had a big wear hole just in front of the driver's seat, and was still wet on the passenger's floor from a leaking heater core the PO said he had replaced 5 years ago.
