Which BB flywheel do I need??

J.W. Performance ''The Wheel'' Flexplate
Product images may differ from actual product appearance.
Approximately 4lbs. heavier than a stock flexplate which creates inertia force. The inertia force is designed to provide quick launches, lower reaction times, improved 60 foot times and more constant engine RPM's during shifts. This quality flexplate that will last 5 years. SFI-certified and NHRA-accepted. Choose lightweight (5.5lbs.) or standard (7.5lbs.). The 4130 chromemoly 0.190'' thick center is welded to the ring gear.
And then there's the correct 454 ext balanced flywheel from GM:
3993827 - Flywheel (454ci) 1970-90 $165.74
This counterweighted 14" diameter flywheel for manual transmission applications provides the correct engine balance for externally balanced 454ci big-blocks. It is drilled for an 11" diameter clutch. Flywheel ID #3993457.
Technical Notes: Do not use with internally balanced engines. Use with counterweighted balancer P/N 3963530. 168 tooth starter ring gear. For use with Mark IV engine only.
And then I read on the forum here about an aluminum flywheel???
I'm using a stock cast crank and stock 8in 454 balancer. These two flywheels are about the same price. Will either make a difference.
The tranny is a Muncie M-20.
Thanks
Len
I would steer clear of the one with 4 pounds added to it, unless you really want to make your tire store happy. It will cause more clutch slippage also. I would go for the GM.
Good luck.
STW!

I would use the 350 /427 flywheel and the 12.00 balancing plate. The flywheel is lighter, cheaper
Nothern Auto parts has them them for $94.99
