Default Cover under diff/strut rod

Can anyone tell me what the sheet metal cover is called that goes under the dfff near inner strut rod mount on a 76. I am trying to get a new one but the vendors cant find it. I am not sure of the name or how to order it.

Thanks,

Mike

I believe it's a heat shield. Have you checked the AIM?

Maybe because it's not supposed to be there?

Do you have a fiberglass spring? That may explain your problem.

It is supposed to be there, I think. at least I have the same thing on my '78 and didn't think it was supposed to be there either. It looked like it was some type of skid plate under the differential. Haven't gotten around to putting things back together yet, so not sure what to do with it.

Some model years with the cat con have the heat shields. My 80 has one and additional shields on the front Y pipe. I specifically made the AIM reference because if the 76s had the shield, the AIM will show it and list the old, original part number for it. That being said, I don't know whether they are being reproduced.

It is a heat shield for the stock rear "Y" pipe. If you have this type of exhaust then you could use it. If there are no pipes in this area it is not needed.

The part number in the '77 AIM is 356918. Rear crossover pipe shield. mike...
