Just got the ZZ4 in, and now in the process of putting it back together. Have a question about the original bell housing inspection plate. Trying to
install, but it doesnt fit. Should I cut away the tabs and the sheetmetal that seems to be in the way, or instead of destroying the 'original' is there a inspection cover that will do the job. Thanx, first attempt at a major project, sometimes seems overwhelming.
What I did was buy a new one and trimmed it to fit. It works fine and haven't had any problems with it. I am using the original bell housing also.

Welcome! I am using a Lakewood bellhousing on my ZZ4 and have not tried to install the stock plate yet. It most likely won't fit, I guess I'll find out.

I'll let you know about the smog thing when I get mine to pass. Failed twice and I think I don't quite have the EFI set right. I did not have any problems with the stock ZZ4 passing 4 years ago when I first put it in.
thanx........ended up trimming the inspection plate with tin snips, and touched up with a grinder....little paint and its in.......onto the radiator! :seeya
