For the pressure lines from the pump>filter>carb! I would LUBE the lines and fittings, threads, etc. those flare fittings need to be as tight as you can get them. You can't tighten dry fittings as much as you can lubed fittings.
A light coating of grease on the tube and flare where the nut contacts it, as well on the threads might solve all your leaks. Worth a try

Lars doesn't like Teflon tape, but a small ampunt on the threads seems to work. Just don't overdo it if you use tape.

Thanks. I used some moly assembly lube on all the fittings. I can't tighten down the carb or fuel pump fitting anymore without stripping it out and both carb and pump are new. The filter no longer leaks but it's aluminum and conformed to the tubing. I made the mistake of ordering SS instead of regular lines from the catalog and don't need this hassle every time I change out a carb filter. No big deal. Just a complaint about the reasoning or safety behind SS lines that take grease and more than double usual torque just to keep from leaking..
People must have a reason for wanting them or they wouldn't make them but it's beyond me. Nothing from the tank to the fuel pump is stainless.

I had an email from a forum member with a new (to me) idea and it worked like a charm. He said he has been using it for years on stainless lines.
Use fuel compatible o-rings that fit the outside diameter of the female end.
Think about it...
My C6 Z06 is all o-rings. Injectors, fuel couplings and all with ten times the fuel pressure of an old 427.
The carb fitting on a quadrajet has a seal and that seems to be ok so why not use an o-ring on a stainless end instead of cranking down tripple the recomended torque on a fuel pump or carb fitting?
It flat out works with stainless and thanks Jeff for showing me how to think outside the box again!
