When I was installing C5 mirrors on my 80 I planned on using the 82 Joystick. The only one I was able to find was used for $300. The guy knew what he had. I ended up using a C4 joystick. It works the same, and it looks like its factory when done. However its by no means a quick install. Everything is different, from plugs to mounting. The switch is even to long, and I needed to do some surgery on the Trans tunnel.
Both power mirrors on my 1982 will not function. All other power accessories work including the windows, seat and door locks. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am not finding any new switches available from vendors.
Why do you think you need to replace it? They seldom go. 99% of the time is a broken wire at the switch or the toggle. Lift off the console and take a look.
If you take the black box off, it is a warning buzzer, you can probably plug the tan stripes wire in, then reattach the box.
I loosened the white catch on the warning buzzer, but could not pull it out. I was afraid to get rough with it and break something. I pushed it to the right which provided more space. I tried in vain to push the male plug in. It appears to be the same configuration as the recepticle. I used a piece of wire as a push rod and still no success. At this point, I do not know what else to try. I had an retired NASCAR engineer try, also and he could not fix it. A Corvette expert will have to fix it.

What do you think about the white and brown wire that is hanging down by the fuse box? The previous posts indicate that is the problem.
Any help is appreciated.
If you can not connect it, try to jump a hot wire from that receptical to that brown/white and see if it will work them. Do you have the factory radio or is it after market?

The stock GM ETR radio is still in place. It only works on FM part of the time.
I will try the hot wire application.
Thank you.

Its a brown with a white strip that runs from 10 amp radio fuse to the adjusting switch. the adjusting switch is the one with the toggle. The question is which end is hanging down? See if its live. Turn the ignition to on and see if there is any power to the brown wire with the white strip. If its live find the other end of that wire. It should be in a harness and run under the consol. If its not live attach a wire to it and run it to the live side of the 10 amp radio fuse. Ignition on then see if the mirror switch works.
I now have power to the mirrors. They both move in and out, but not up and down. The contacts on the toggle switch for up and down must be bad. Correct?
Yes, you are not making contact through that circuit, have you used any contact cleaner? You can get CRC Contact cleaner at OReiliy's or any of the others. It may be a a fix. If you are thinking about taking the toggle apart It is a son of a gun to put back together. I would just use the cleaner and work the switch up & down.

Thanks.
How hard is it to get to the switch through the console?
