Will Trailer Hitch Fit?
A kind forum member with an '82 C3 wishes to purchase my used trailer hitch - off my '76. I want to make sure the rig will fit on his car - irrespective of drilling holes in frame, etc.
Attached are some pix with a tape measure. Appreciate any advice or thoughts before I take his $$.

Yes, but I'd rather spare my 'customer' any hassle beyond drilling a few holes.
According to that 'etrailer' site, there's a difference between the '76 and '82 hitch designs:

It appears the bar angles are different, which bodes badly for compatibility.
On the otherhand, my hitch has a straight main bracket, like the '82 model above. Only there are two attachment plates welded to either end of my hitch, which the '82 doesn't have.
Bill, if you're reading this, I'm unsure whether my hitch will work on your car. Given these pictures, and the ones I posted in the first message, you should go check your car's rear frame member, do some measuring and estimating, and decide for yourself if it's going to work without a lot of additional hassle.
If anyone else knows otherwise, or has other info, please chime in.
