which differential ratio
My 78 L82, 4 speed needs a new differential. The orginal is a 3:73. I am considering changing to a 3:55. I won't be doing any long distance hiway driving, so I'm questioning if this is a good move. Will I give up much low speed acceleration with the 3:55. Your thoughts, thanks.

Why do you want to downsize? It is the only redeeming performance aspect of that era, seems the 78-79 used a 3.70 in many base models where in the earlier years a 3.08 is base and 3.70 was always an optional gear. Plus yours is a 4 speed. Don't do it. Stay with the ratio you got.
