could you get the bolts in without having to use a BFH?
My experience has been that with the stock installation in my 77 I experienced more heat in the cabin that I did once I converted to side pipes and ceramic coated long tube headers.
Since the side pipes run the exhaust all out to the side and it does not pass under the length of the cabin this may be part of the reason for less heat in the cabin or maybe even most of it.
I have straight plug holes on my heads, with the Hooker headers and ceramic coating I have had no problems burning off spark plug boots or super hot under hood heat problems ( just the regular hot under hood temp for a C3 lol)
I also installed insulation for both heat and sound under the carpet for the entire floor. Once that was done it made the car into a cooler, even on the hottest days, and this is a black 'vette.
With a normal installation the exhaust runs the entire length of the cabin and this may be a significant source of heat sink into the car rather than just the headers.
The heat control is a multi step process not just a one "step fixes all" solution.
As far as power goes, the LTH headers are great out on the highway when I open it up.
If there is a loss in town driving, I'm not noticing it.
I can say definitively that they are significantly superior to the rams horn stock headers.
