I just bought these, haven't installed them yet so I can't speak to how they perform but I do like the way the collector seals...

I had mine for about 7 years. The McJacks helped power throughout the full RPM range versus the cast iron manifolds but probably slightly less than LTH's. They are a really nice piece and well suited for the street.
high quality for sure

could you get the bolts in without having to use a BFH?

LTH or nothing IMO

I have two sets of LTH in good shape if you need a used set. I went to side pipe

I'm in the middle of a 383 install right now.....will the long tube (full length) headers really make it that much hotter in the cabin?

There was a really long thread about heat issues, and much of it seemed to focus on the exhaust heat generated by headers and pipes.
My experience has been that with the stock installation in my 77 I experienced more heat in the cabin that I did once I converted to side pipes and ceramic coated long tube headers.

Since the side pipes run the exhaust all out to the side and it does not pass under the length of the cabin this may be part of the reason for less heat in the cabin or maybe even most of it.

I have straight plug holes on my heads, with the Hooker headers and ceramic coating I have had no problems burning off spark plug boots or super hot under hood heat problems ( just the regular hot under hood temp for a C3 lol)

I also installed insulation for both heat and sound under the carpet for the entire floor. Once that was done it made the car into a cooler, even on the hottest days, and this is a black 'vette.

With a normal installation the exhaust runs the entire length of the cabin and this may be a significant source of heat sink into the car rather than just the headers.

The heat control is a multi step process not just a one "step fixes all" solution.

As far as power goes, the LTH headers are great out on the highway when I open it up.
If there is a loss in town driving, I'm not noticing it.
I can say definitively that they are significantly superior to the rams horn stock headers.

No. That is BS. The exhaust is the same temperature with manifolds or headers and that is what determines the temperature of the pipe. Additional BS is the issue of LTH ground clearance. Mine are no lower than the stock pipes, and in any case, are not the lowest point under the front half of the car.

The difference between quality, correctly-sized LTH and shorties in both HP and especially torque is quite significant in my experience. The shorties are essentially replacements for stock manifolds - they don't have any scavenging affect...and this is where much of the power gain with headers come from.
