Default Electric Choke Wiring

Couple of quick questions regarding my highly bubified 1980. When I got it, the Holley carb on it was way too big and didn't have a choke, which of course made it a breeze to get running when it was cold I have just installed a new Holley 670 with an electric choke. My question is where should I look for the wire for the choke? Also, if I happen to locate this wire, does it work off of the temperature gauge? I ask this because this wiring is missing as well If that is the case, then where should I look to locate the temperature gauge wiring, and where does the sending unit go? Of course this is missing as well
My car is a 1980 with an L48 that has been "modified" and has been upgraded to a 700R4.

Can you use a wiring diagram to find a dedicated wire that should /could power an electric choke?
A simple solution is to run a new wire from the fuse box that gets "hot" (12Volts) when the key is in the run position (not the accy position)....
run this wire from the fuse box Aux. terminal to the electric choke terminal.
The other choke terminal wire is attached to a ground point on the carb.
Then adjust the choke cap so the choke plate will be closed with the key off and the engine cold.
Once the key is turned on, the electric choke will draw 12 volts immediately---which is why the key should not be turned on unless the engine is being started.
The choke should fully open after about 3-4 minutes with the engine running (the choke cap may have to be rotated slightly to get the choke plate to completely open once the engine reaches operating temperature).

(I do not know how later model electric chokes work when tied into the temp. sending unit wiring)

Doesn't work off temp gauge. Like doorgunner said, find a switched 12v location, fuse box or something else in the engine compartment and run a wire to the choke. It has an internal spring (adjustable) in the choke.
Basically, if you were to switch the 12v on and not start the car, the choke would turn off. It is based on the internal spring, not the actual temp of the car.

Interesting. I have never worked with an electric choke before, obviously. So it is a timing thing with the spring inside the choke mechanism. That makes things a lot easier. Thanks for the help.

Yeppers.. and bubba didn't get hold of your car.. We had one come in here that was wired into the green wire for the a/c compressor.. Figure that one out. The only time the choke would work was when the a/c was on... Now that's a bubba fix.

The 12 volts going to the electric choke actually heats the internal spring up. That's how it works. So there is no need for anything else. Doorgunner is correct, just adjust the choke so it opens and closes properly and you should be ready to go.

I got a good laugh out of that, too funny

If I can I would like to see if I can find the correct choke wire before I run another wire if possible. If anyone knows which loom to look in that would be helpful. Also, I would like to get the temp gauge working again as well. Where does the sending unit go (it's missing)? I'm thinking the drivers side head? Where might I locate the wire for this one?

It's on the driver side of the car, same loom as the headlights and the alternator wiring. The wiring is light blue.

Choke, the temp gauge wiring is also over there though. I believe the temp is light green.

The early C3s use the yellow wire to the windshield wiper motor - well the early C3s but late enough to use an electric wiper motor as the very first C3 years use vacuum i believe.

U should have found this with a search on this forum for electric chokes.

What year did they separate the wiring from the windshield wiper circuit? I know in 81 it had a separate relay, wiring, everything, but I don't know what year that started. I assumed it was sometime around 78 with the re-design, but I haven't looked at the wiring diagrams.

Any idea what the plug I boxed in red is for?
