I was pretty sure my vents were non-functional and now the other current topic has confirmed my initial observation. Based upon the styling I'm striving for, a monolithic, seamless, trimless/shaved custom C3, one of my plans is to remove the vents and glass the area smooth.
Please give me your thoughts. Keep in mind I may not change my mind though. Just want to see if other custom junkies like my idea. I will be fabricating C5 style deck-lid bumps behind the seats so it won't be completely flat behind the seats.
Re: Based on recent rear deck vent comments (74-Roadster)
I am kinda partial to the vents, and think they make the car look good...
But, since you are looking for that "flow," I think they would only mess up that flow. Since you (like me) have an A/C equipped car, your vents only serve to collect water (and drain it if the drain works)...glass 'em on over. Make it look nice!
Re: Based on recent rear deck vent comments (74-Roadster)
I've already decided to glass mine over. I'm in the final stages of the glass work now, working on the fiberglass sidepipe covers and blending them to the flares. After that I move to the back deck for the vents, final cut out for the lemans fuel fill and maybe, just maybe a little something on the tail for added down draft. :)

I kind of like my vents, but it doesn't appear it would work with your design. Are you doing wheel flares, thought I read that before. I know it's a different style but I've included a picture of a car with some flares that were interesting.

I'm susprised that so many of you concur, WHEW!
Dave, glad to here someone else has already decided to glass them smooth. I know you have good taste so now I can sleep at night.
Shannon, yeah, I told you in an instant message I'm considering building flare that blend in much more gradually than the ZL-1 flares. I've got a model almost ready for paint to look at and determine if the look I'm after is worth that much work. On the plus side, the quality of mold I plan on building would be good enought to make many sets for sale to help offset some of my time and cost, we'll see. Still playing with my little boy and working on the last couple of house projects before I can sink my heart, soul and wallet into the Vette.
