Rear End Leak ??????????????
I thought my pinion seal was leaking so I brought the 81 to the mechanic. Went to pick it up today and he tells me that the rear end is leaking between the two halves where it is joined together. Says the whole rear must come apart for this. well I brought the car back home because we are a little short on cash right now. Does anyone know if there are any screws around the rear that I might try and tighted a little? Thanks for ant help.

If cash flow is a problem you could do it yourself for the cost of a gasket, I know the feeling about cash flow. I never thought I would do something like this myself but not only did I do it but it actually worked and there were no spare parts :D Here's a little help if you decide to go that way, it's a little more than you need but it should help. rear suspension rebuild

Shark tank is right on. This is about the cheapest job you could do if of course, you don't get the "while I'm in there" bug which is likely to happen when you drop the rear end. If money is a problem, live with the leak for now and keep the rear full of oil and additive.
